During his business career he has had wide varied experiences. John created and executed the Complete Petmart concept. He designed the operating structure of a foundation and grew it from less than $2 million to over $25 million in assets, with grants and disbursements of more than $2 million annually. He pioneered new types of promotions for the pet industry that increased market exposure and sales. He has taken over struggling businesses and made them profitable. He has managed product lines with over $80 million in sales.

Coach

John has been a men's high school soccer coach for over twenty years. He was an assistant coach at Chaminade-Julienne, head coach at Wayne High School, and is currently an assistant coach at Xenia High School. He also has an NSCAA National Soccer Coaching certificate.

This spring he tried something different. He was the head men's tennis coach at Xenia High School. It was a lot of fun.

Photographer

John has been taking photos for most of his life. He started with an instamatic as a kid. Then went to a 35 millimeter camera and finally to digital today.

Until a few years ago he did not believe he would ever change from film. An article in a photo magazine talked about how a photographer liked a digital point and shoot he had picked up. So, John decided to try one as well.

It did not take long and John was hooked on digital. Digital gave good quality and the ability to do more than he could do in a darkroom and with no chemicals.

If you would like to see some of John's photography go to his website at jmarrinan.com. He also has a blog at johnmarrinan.blogspot.com. John's regular site is hard to change things, so the blog shows some of the stuff he has done more recently.

In 2006 he took a trip to the State of Vericruz in Mexico for a photo shoot. Judy said he should write about his experiences. So John has a trip blog at tripdiary.com/jmarrinan/mexico. This is a work in progress, but he hopes to get it completed one day before he forgets everything he saw and did.
