She joined the order in 1921, and worked at several convents including Cincinnati, Columbus, and Dayton in Ohio as well as South Beloit, Illinois. Sister Peter Marie (Sister Anne Flanagan) and Sister Robert Michael (Sister Mary Lou Stuffel) said, "She was a calm and beautiful person."

"Black Twig" apples were the apple of choice by "Aunt T" for baking. These apples have not been available in the area for many years. The "Black Twig" is known mostly as a "southern apple," and now considered antique or heirloom.

One article indicated the "Black Twig" and other varieties have gone out of favor because their surface appearance is less attractive in grocery cases than some other apples. Another article indicated the variety actually is best after being stored for a period of time to develop their full flavor.

Undoubtedly, that is why the "Black Twig" would have been a favorite for baking by "Aunt T" as the fruit would have been at their best about the time winter pies were being made for the Sisters of Notre Dame.
